National Moot Competition

Government Law College, Ernakulam, is pleased to host the 22nd T.S. Venkateswara Iyer Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy National Moot Court Competition 2025, one of India’s oldest and most prestigious moot court competitions.This event brings together law students from across the country, providing a platform to enhance their research, argumentation, and advocacy skills while fostering constructive competition and collaboration.The moot proposition is live! Get ready for the Online Prelims on 1st and 2nd February, followed by the Quarters, Semis, and Finals from 21st to 23rd February. We can’t wait to see you there!  ELIGIBILITY The competition is open to the Law colleges, Law schools, Law Departments and Law Universities recognized by the Bar Council of India. The participation is limited to undergraduate students in law, both in the 3-year, 5-year and LLM courses presently undergoing regular courses.MEDIUM OF COMPETITIONThe On-Campus Competition shall be held from 21st to 23rd February 2025. The Preliminary Round is scheduled to take place online over two days, from February 1st to 2nd, 2025.TEAM COMPOSITIONEach team shall have 3 members. The maximum number cannot be modified under any circumstances.Each team will be provided a team code, at the time of provisional registration, prior to the submission of memorials via e-mail. This team code will be used to refer to the team for the whole competition.REQUIREMENTSThe team should be present physically for the quarter finals and the following rounds.The team shall pay the accommodation and transport charge (INR 1500/-) upon arrival (applicable only if they are availing the service). ALL INDIA TRIAL ADVOCACY (AITA) 2025

About The Event The Centre for Criminal Laws of Government Law College, Ernakulam is conducting the 2nd edition of its All India Trial Advocacy Competition, AITA 2025 as part of its 150th- year celebrations. The competition would be held at the campus from 17th to 19th January, 2025. The following is the registration form for the competition. The registration commences from 14 December, 2024. The last date for registration is 27 December, 2024. A registration fee of Rs. 3000 is to be paid at the time of registration. Eligibility The competition is open to undergraduate students pursuing an LL.B. program (3-year or 5-year course) from any law school, university, or department of law recognized by the Bar Council of India. Each institution is allowed to send only one team to represent them. Team Composition Each team must consist of 3 members: 2 speakers 1 witness trainer Once the team composition is registered, no changes can be made after 27th December 2024. Teams should ensure that they adhere to this format, and any deviation (including the addition of a fourth member) will not be permitted. Only one team per college is permitted to participate in the event. Registration Registration Deadline: 23:59 IST on 27th December 2024 The registration form must be completed and submitted through the link provided below. The registration fee is INR 3000 per team (non-refundable). Proof of payment must be attached to the registration form. Teams must complete the registration on a first-come, first-served basis, with a maximum of 20 teams allowed. Upon successful registration, teams will receive a Unique Registration Number (URN), which must be quoted in all future communications. Fee Details The registration fee is INR 3000 per team, and the payment must be submitted along with the registration form and is non-refundable. Please note this amount is not inclusive of accommodation or meals, except for lunch during the event days. Competition Structure The competition will follow a multi-round format: Preliminary Rounds: Each team participates in two rounds – one as the prosecution and the other as the defense. Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Finals: Teams with the highest aggregate scores from the preliminary rounds will advance to the knockout stages. The competition will include both oral advocacy and cross-examination, with teams presenting arguments and conducting examinations in each round. Awards and Prizes The competition will follow a multi-round format: Preliminary Rounds: Each team participates in two rounds – one as the prosecution and the other as the defense. Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Finals: Teams with the highest aggregate scores from the preliminary rounds will advance to the knockout stages.
